Hillend Engineering’s HR team, Lori Raeside and Derrin Mowatt were in Kirkcaldy on Tuesday 17th June, at Developing the Young Workforce (DYW), a business breakfast and showcase exhibition for students from 18 high schools in the region.
The event gave students the opportunity to meet local employers in the manufacturing and engineering sector, to find out about career opportunities.
For Lori and Derrin it was the perfect chance to talk about the apprenticeships and roles available at Hillend Engineering’s Dunfermline operation, including HGV (heavy goods vehicle) mechanical engineering, welding fabrication and paint shop finishing, all with training and support to provide a great environment to build the skilled workforce for the future.
Lori said “It was great to hear the enthusiasm that the next generation have for engineering and manufacturing, and also their surprise to find that their local refuse collection vehicles are built here in Fife. The students were genuinely engaged, which was really refreshing and credit to the students that attended”.
