With a 60-year heritage, Somerset based Perrys Recycling set high standardsfor recycling-led waste management solutions across the South-West. But when the business was missing out on opportunities to tender, as theirbulky refuse collection vehicles were making access to high street customer locations prohibitive, they looked for alternatives combining agility with high capacity, and they put Hillend Engineering’s BIG BITE JUNIOR to the test.
The Perrys team were invited to see BIG BITE JUNIOR in action, and they were impressed with its performance, and the proactivity of the team. The result is that we are pleased to have BIG BITE JUNIOR in our fleet, allowing us to manoeuvre into smaller customer premises, but still get maximum payloads, from 14 cubic yard bins to 1100 and 240 litre containers".
BIG BITE JUNIOR is clearly versatile, flexible, and customer-friendly, which is exactly what we were looking for. The Volvo chassis is a proven product
and is a good combination with the Hillend Engineering body. Also, safety is a big deal to us, and the vehicle has full camera visibility and sensors, to provide us with all the essential safety features we need.
For Perrys, the shape and manoeuvrability of the body and the fact that it isn’t as wide as the other RCVs they have, means that there is also less opportunity for potential damage. All importantly, BIG BITE JUNIOR has lessened the effect on the environment, with lower tyre usage and a greater volume of waste collected during rounds. It’s easier to run, safer and faster throughout the collection schedule – all qualities that make it popular with drivers and crew.
