Glendale, the largest specialist green service provider in the UK has won a grounds maintenance contract with North Somerset District Council.
With maintenance contracts spanning many areas of the country, Glendale provides specialist green services to local authorities, public and private sector clients. All of whom benefit from a genuine partnership solution to help ensure their projects success. This, Glendale’s third contract with North Somerset District Council, requires as an integral element to the main contract, the management and emptying of street cleaning waste from 1100 litre eurobins in Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon town centres and seafront along with other areas of the North Somerset District. After careful evaluation a Farid MiniMatic was chosen as the best suited to the task.
The MiniMatic is supplied on contract hire by Dawson Rentals. Dawson’s are a major and well established (over 35 years) contract hire company who mainly specialise in highway sweepers – this is their first supply of a refuse collection vehicle. Indeed, the road sweepers for the main contract are being supplied Glendale.
In addition to eurobin emptying, another option is for the smaller road sweepers to discharge their ‘road sweepings’ into the MiniMatic for transportation to main depot where they will be bulked and then shipped to Glendale’s waste facility in Exeter to be processed so that the material can be diverted from landfill.
The vehicle supplied is a Farid MiniMatic 8 cu m body complete with Farid Comb Lift mounted to an Isuzu N75 7.5t GVW 4×2 chassis. Farid UK will be supplying a full body, lifter and chassis repair and maintenance contract to Dawson’s for the MiniMatic.
The MiniMatic is fitted with a number of optional extras including LED Beacons, side marker lights and rear lights. It has auto gather on comb lift to enable an efficient and safe one-man operation when required. It is also fitted with Air Weigh vehicle load system complete with packer cut out at GVW to prevent the vehicle overloading.
Mark McKinnon, Company Engineer for Glendale Management Services explained, “In this new contract for us, refuse collection within the street cleansing operations was a new venture. It was important that we chose the right vehicle and supplier so careful evaluation was made prior to selecting the Farid MiniMatic. It represents an ideal solution where restricted access is a problem and excellent manoeuvrability is required. We are confident that we will be able to provide exactly what our client requires and look forward to expanding and continuing our long relationship with North Somerset District Council.”
